SPRINGFIELD-It’s a rarity for Republican Bruce Rauner to take reporters’ questions in Chicago or Springfield like he did Thursday at Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair.

For a little more than six minutes, the Winnetka Republican made clear he has no interest in releasing a full set of his 2013 taxes, dismissed as “political spin and baloney” allegations that he has been trying to buy African-American votes and, in a nod to a pair of criminal indictments last week involving a subsidiary to his former private equity firm, acknowledged there were some without “high integrity” working within his business empire.
