President Barack Obama’s approval rating nationwide is 44 percent, according to a recent Gallup poll, and the numbers aren’t much better in his home state.

A new poll from Reuters shows that more than half of Illinois residents disapprove of the job Obama is doing in Washington. In all, 50.5 percent either “strongly disapprove,” “somewhat disapprove,” or “lean disapprove.”

Some good news for Obama is that the number of people who “strongly disapprove” dropped significantly after spiking in June.

In what should come as no shock, the poll shows that 75.9 percent of the state’s Democrats polled approve of Obama, while 84.8 percent of Republicans disapprove.
