Could Chicago be in the running to land the NFL draft? Adam Jahns reports that while the Super Bowl may be a no-go for now, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is making a strong push for the next-best thing.
In an interview with NFL Network’s Rich Eisen, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Emanuel was one of two mayors in an aggressive pursuit of the draft.
Bears president Ted Phillips said at the NFL owners meetings in March that Emanuel was interested in hosting the draft.
“Well, the two most aggressive, probably, are Chicago and Los Angeles,” Goodell told Eisen. “But we’ve heard from a few other mayors also. There are a lot of cities that are interested in having this in a future. And we’re going to look at that.”
