WASHINGTON–Mayor Rahm Emanuel popped up in here on Friday morning, not for the lovely Cherry Blossoms but meetings at HUD, DOT and a swing by the White House.
Emanuel flew to D.C. from Boston, where on Thursday, where he was the keynote speaker at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s 2014 Scaling Infrastructure Conference hosted by MIT’s Center for Advanced Urbanism.
Emanuel, President Barack Obama’s former chief of staff, has on his schedule a meeting with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. And at some point in the day, a stop at the White House.
He was not at the White House, I am told for President Barack Obama’s announcement of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius resignation and his tapping Office of Management and Budget chief Sylvia Mathews Burwell to take her place. My post on how Emanuel and Burwell worked together in the Clinton White House is HERE.
Before the Boston/Washington swing, Emanuel was in Miami on March 24 for fundraising, where he hauled out a nice chunk of Miami cash for his Chicago for Rahm Emanuel political fund.
