During a speech Friday at American University, former Vice President Dick Cheney dismissed accusations that he is a war criminal and said if given the opportunity to waterboard again, he’d do it.

Cheney was speaking as part of an event hosted by the Kennedy Political Union, The Eagle reports.

“The accusations are not true,” Cheney said of being a war criminal as a result of three people being waterboarded during his vice presidency.

Leading up to his visit, protests were held on campus.

“Some people called it torture. It wasn’t torture,” Cheney said in an interview with ATV, American University’s televison station. “If I would have to do it all over again, I would. The results speak for themselves.”
