Red, blue and green: State tax burdens and politics

new report from online financial service Wallet Hub shows that states with higher average tax burdens tend to be “blue” (voted for Barack Obama in 2012) while residents in “red” states, which voted for Mitt Romney, generally tend to pay less state and local taxes. Use this map to see where each state ranks in their tax burden (1=lowest tax burden, 50=highest) and whether the state is red or blue:
