A 15-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy last week in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
Darren Foggey, 16, was shot about 9:25 p.m. July 23 in the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was in a bedroom when a bullet went through a window and struck him in the neck, authorities said at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 p.m., a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office said.
Police said the Foggey was killed in the home where he lived, but the medical examiner’s office listed his address in the 6900 block of South Artesian.
A police source said Foggey had gang affiliations.
The teen charged in his death is scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday, police said. His name was withheld because of his age.
