Chicago police are questioning a person of interest in the shooting death of 11-year-old Shamiya Adams, slain last week during a sleepover on the West Side.

Police believe the shooting happened after a fight, and one of the men involved came back and started shooting from the street, a law enforcement source said.

No one has been charged in the killing.

Meanwhile, Shamiya’s family is making arrangements to bury the little girl.

The family is seeking donations to help with the cost of the funeral, said Nannette Dailey, the girl’s grandmother.

“We’re trying to do whatever we can to make sure my granddaughter can be put away decent,” the grieving woman said.

Dailey said the family is “hanging in there.”

Service information has not yet been finalized, she said.

On Tuesday night, Mayor Rahm Emanuel visited with Shaneetha Goodloe, the mother of murdered 11-year-old Shamiya Adams, for a second time.

The mayor “wanted to go check in on her and to again let her know the entire city is thinking of them,” said Kelley Quinn, Emanuel’s spokeswoman.

Shamiya and her friends were about to make s’mores in the microwave before the fatal shot rang out Friday night.

She was at a sleepover in a West Garfield Park home when a gunman outside fired an errant shot that struck her in the head. She died the next morning. Emanuel also visited her family on Saturday.
