After allegedly shooting a man in the South Lawndale neighborhood on Tuesday night, two suspects led Chicago police on a car chase that ultimately led to their arrest in west suburban Lyons.
Officers on patrol in the Southwest Side neighborhood heard shots fired about 9:55 p.m. and saw a van speed away from the 3000 block of South Tripp Avenue, where a 21-year-old man was shot in his back and hand, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man later made his way to Mount Sinai Hospital, Greer said.
Police pursued the van into Lyons, where two males — whose ages were not known — got out of the vehicle and ran before officers arrested them, police said.
A police source said the shooting might have been gang-related.
Charges were pending against the two people in custody early Wednesday.
