A man was shot through the door of his suburban Oak Park apartment early Thursday morning, Oak Park police say.
The victim, a 22-year-old man who police said has a history of weapons violations, was shot just after midnight after a knock at his door, according to a news release from the village of Oak Park.
According to police, the victim said he looked through the apartment’s peephole and saw two men outside. One of the men began demanding the victim let them in, and began pounding on the door before firing three shots through the door from a handgun, the victim told police.
The victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Police did an “extensive” search of the neighborhood, but could find no witnesses, according to the news release.
Police described both suspects as black, with one man in his late 20s with a muscular build, wearing a baseball hat with a straight grey or blue brim. The other was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
