A joint memorial service will be held Monday for the Round Lake man and his teen daughter killed last week in a small plane crash in Florida.
Jeffrey Bronken, 53, and his daughter Katherine Bronken, 15, were killed in the March 22 crash in Clearwater, Fla. Jeffrey Bronken, the pilot, was killed instantly. His daughter, a freshman at Grant High School, died Wednesday at a Florida hospital.
A memorial wake will be held 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Cultural and Civic Center in Round Lake Beach. A funeral mass for both will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the family’s parish, St. Bede Church in Ingleside.
Jeffrey Bronken was piloting the plane about 4 a.m. when it hit power lines before crashing nose-first into a median of a six-lane street.
The father and daughter were traveling to Florida for spring break, along with Katherine Bronken’s softball teammate, 15-year-old Keyana Linbo. She survived the crash, but remains hospitalized.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
