DENVER – Avisail Garcia and Jose Abreu each had the first multi-homer games of their young careers, and the White Sox went deep six times to open up a 13-2 lead against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night at Coors Field.
Tyler Flowers and Alexei Ramirez, both with batting averages approaching the .500 mark, also homered for the Sox.
Garcia and Abreu had not homered in the Sox’ first seven games. Garcia homered against left-hander Franklin Morales in the first and against right-hander Wilson Lopez in the eighth.
Abreu homered on the 12th pitch of an at-bat against Chad Bettis in the seventh, the ball barely clearing the left field wall. In the eighth, he hit an 0-2 pitch from Lopez 412-feet to the opposite field in right-center. Abreu’s first homer snapped an 0-for-12 mini-skid.
