White Sox trade Alejandro De Aza to Orioles for minor-leaguers

The White Sox traded outfielder Alejandro De Aza to the Orioles for minor-league pitchers Mark Blackmar and Miguel Chalas, the team announced Saturday night.

De Aza, 30, is hitting .243 with 31 RBI in 122 games with the Sox this season. He is a career .267 hitter in seven seasons with the Marlins and Sox.

De Aza played in the first game of a doubleheader against the Tigers on Saturday and went 0-for-4. He wasn’t in the lineup for the nightcap.

Blackmar, 22, is 10-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 83 strikeouts with Class A Frederick of the Carolina League. Chalas, 22, is 3-4 with a 4.48 ERA in 30 relief appearances between Frederick and Class AAA Norfolk.
