A Rogers Park man tried to sexually assault a woman who was pushing her two-year-old son in a stroller just five minutes after he attempted to attack another mother who was with her child, Cook County prosecutors said.

Hassan Flowers followed the second victim as she turned into an alley with her son in the 1700 block of West Pratt about 11 a.m. Monday, Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth Novy said.

Flowers, 25, allegedly pulled the woman’s hair, pushed her to the ground and knocked over the stroller that held the boy, who fell face down, striking his face and head on the pavement.

Flowers straddled the woman with his legs, punched her face and covered her mouth to muffle her cries, Novy said.

He also tried to kiss the 24-year-old woman and grabbed at her groin, according to a police report.

As the woman struggled with Flowers, two men heard her cries for help and came to her rescue, Novy said.

The witnesses held Flowers down until police arrived.

Just five minutes before, Flowers attacked another woman who was also walking with her child in a stroller, Novy said.

Flowers grabbed that woman’s hair, put her in a “bear hug” and tried to pull her to the ground but she hit Flowers in the throat with her elbow and fled, authorities said.

Flowers also allegedly grabbed and hit another woman after following her into a restroom on Sunday.

However, he fled when the woman screamed, Novy said.

After Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. heard the allegations against Flowers Tuesday, he said, “This one is easy” and ordered Flowers held in lieu of $1 million bail for the latest incident. The most serious charge in the case is attempted criminal sexual assault.

Both the woman and her toddler were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Flowers, of the 6700 block of North Bosworth Avenue, was also charged with a misdemeanor battery for allegedly attacking the other woman on Monday.

It was unclear whether he was charged in Sunday’s incident.
