Runners who entered the lottery for a place in this year’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon, were notified Monday about whether they’ll be among the 45,000 participating in the race.

Marathon officials planned to notify successful applicants Monday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. “on a rolling basis,” according to the official race website.

Earlier this year, registration was delayed for two weeks to allow race officials “to finalize a routine yet comprehensive assessment of our new registration process.’’

Last year, the system crashed shortly after the start of registration, and race officials were forced to go to a lottery to complete registration.

This year, race officials went to a new system and had a new company handling registration.

The fee for this year’s event, set for Oct. 12, is $185 for U.S. residents, and $210 for non-U.S. residents.
