The Florida Marlins released former Cubs closer Carlos Marmol on Monday. He had been designated for assignment after struggling in 15 games.
Marmol, 31, appeared in 15 games this season, struggling with a 8.10 ERA and 10 walks in 13 innings.
Marmol signed his first contract in 1999 with the Cubs, who traded him to the Dodgers in 2013. The Marlins signed Marmol as a free agent before this season.
