A teenage boy was killed and a teenage girl wounded in a shooting Saturday in Lawndale on the West Side.

The boy and girl, both 17, were walking about 12:23 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Keeler Avenue when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire, Chicago police said.

The boy was hit in the chest and upper body multiple times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

He died the next day about 6 a.m. and was identified as Jarise Baker of the Lawndale neighborhood, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy released Monday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The girl was taken to the same hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm, police said. Her condition was stabilized.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
