A man was shot during a robbery Monday in South Chicago on the South Side.

The 26-year-old was meeting with someone to purchase merchandise they’d discussed online about 10:30 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Mackinaw Avenue, according to Chicago police.

The supposed seller robbed and shot the man before running away, police said.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the right side of the chest, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
