A man was killed and another critically wounded Monday in a shooting in East Garfield Park.

The pair were standing on the sidewalk at 1:29 p.m. when they were shot in the 3900 block of West Lake Street, according to Chicago police.

Frederick Freeman, 26, was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy released Tuesday ruled his death a homicide.

A 21-year-old was also shot multiple times and taken to Stroger in critical condition, police said.

Police said witnesses at the scene were uncooperative with investigators and did not provide a suspect description. No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
