A man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a car Thursday in north suburban Waukegan, according to police.

Officers responded to the area of Jackson Street and 8th Street for a report of a hit-and-run, Waukegan police said. There, they found a man in his 60s laying on the street.

He appeared to have been struck by a vehicle, and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Investigators believe the man was riding his bike on Jackson when he was hit by a silver-colored 2006 Cadillac SUV that was traveling southbound, police said.

Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper scheduled an autopsy for Monday to determine the man’s cause of death, police said.
