A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Friday in University Village.

Rayveon Hutchins was walking at 11:59 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Throop Street when a male approached him and opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was struck in the head, hip and back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Saturday morning, authorities said. Hutchins lived in University Village.

The parking lot of an apartment complex was blocked off with crime scene tape as officers investigated.

An autopsy Sunday ruled Hutchins’ death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

No arrests have been made, police said. Area Central detectives are investigating.
