Man killed, woman wounded in Roseland drive-by

Deandre Darling, 18, was shot multiple times in the chest, while a 20-year-old woman was hit in the leg, authorities said.

A man was killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting Friday in Roseland on the South Side.

They were standing outside with a group about 9:15 p.m. in the 300 block of West 108th Place when someone inside a passing vehicle opened fire, Chicago police said.

An 18-year-old man was struck multiple times in the chest, police said. He was taken to Roseland Community Hospital and died while being transferred to Stroger Hospital.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Deandre Darling. He lived in Gresham on the South Side.

His death has been ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

A woman, 20, was shot in the leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Two detectives are investigating.
