A man was shot to death Sunday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

The 45-year-old was standing on the sidewalk at 3:52 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Ingleside Avenue when someone fired shots from a black SUV, according to Chicago police.

He was hit in the left side and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man was identified as Joseph Brooks, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy confirmed he died of a gunshot wound to the torso and ruled his death a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area Two detectives investigate.
