South Chicago shooting: Tajanay Samuels, Antwainisha Bratcher killed on Essex Avenue

Tajanay A. Samuels and Antwainisha Bratcher were both pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center, authorities said.

Two people were shot, one fatally, July 24, 2021, in Gage Park. — A double shooting left a woman dead May 28, 2020, in the 8700 block of South Essex Avenue.

Two 19-year-old women were shot to death Thursday while sitting in a parked vehicle in South Chicago.

They were in the 8700 block of South Essex Avenue about 8:36 p.m when someone opened fire, Chicago police said.

One woman was shot in the back and hand, police said. The other woman was shot in her head.

Tajanay A. Samuels of South Chicago and Antwainisha Bratcher of Marquette Park were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Two detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
