South Chicago shooting: Man, teen boy wounded on Loomis

A man and a teenager were shot Aug. 24, 2020, in the 7900 block of South Merrill Avenue.

A man and a teenage boy were injured in a shooting Monday in South Chicago.

They were standing near a vehicle at 2:22 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Merrill Avenue when someone approached and started shooting, Chicago police said.

The 17-year-old was shot in his abdomen and the right side of his chest, police said. He was dropped off at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was in good condition.

The 25-year-old was shot multiple times and taken to the same hospital in critical condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Two detectives investigate.
