Amy Poehler to produce sitcom starring Carol Burnett

Amy Poehler, who grew up considering Carol Burnett her comedy hero, soon will be her boss.

ABC has ordered a pilot for a sitcom starring Burnett, the star of a legendary 1970s variety show, and produced by Poehler’s company Paper Kite, Deadline reports.

Still untitled, the show is about a family that buys a house but agrees to share it with its current owner, an actress (Burnett), until she dies.

“Halt and Catch Fire” co-executive producer Michael Saltzman will write the pilot and be an executive producer.

Poehler and friend Tina Fey presented Burnett with the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award earlier this year.

“We watched Carol with our moms, and our moms taught us 90 percent of what we needed to know to be the kind of women that we are today, and the other 10 percent is Carol,” Poehler said. “We love her and we thank her.”
