It’s been rumored for months, but now Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have confirmed they are divorcing — just a day after marking the 10th anniversary of their marriage.

Speculation was flying with increasing velocity in recent weeks about the marriage long considered one of Hollywood’s best. The talk was fueled further when the couple’s representatives stopped denying the two were headed for divorce court.

While the split is said to be relatively amicable and does appear final, divorce filings will not be made right away. As TMZ reported Tuesday, the couple’s extensive financial holdings will require mediation and negotiation with business managers and attorneys. The divorce will be filed when all property and custody issues are resolved.

The couple will share joint custody of their three children, ranging in age from 3 to 9. Both Affleck and Garner are known to be extremely devoted to their kids. They issued a statement that said, in part, “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.”
