Colin Farrell will join director Liv Ullmann at Thursday’s Chicago International Film Festival screening of their new movie “Miss Julie,” a festival spokesman said Monday.

A red carpet event begins the evening at 6 p.m., followed by presentation of the film at the Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph.

Jessica Chastain and Samantha Morton co-star in “Miss Julie,” based on August Strindberg’s 1888 play. Farrell plays a valet at an Irish country estate who develops an intimate and at times bullying relationship with his employer’s daughter (Chastain).

Farrell, known for roles in films including “Minority Report’ and “In Bruges,” recently signed on to co-star with Vince Vaughn in the second season of HBO’s “True Detective.”

Tickets to the CIFF opening night range from $50 to $150 and are available at  www.chicagofilmfestival.com,  (312-332-3456) or the festival office at 30 E. Adams, Suite 800.
