An expanded Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (CIMMfest) will run April 13-17, at venues centered on Milwaukee Avenue, from Wicker Park to Logan Square, and for the first time in Hyde Park and Lincoln Square.

In addition, two new categories — best soundtrack and best original score — have been added to the competition segment of the The five-day, 200-plus multimedia event that boasts more than 100 film premieres, live concerts and industry conference, the latter hosted by Martin Atkins.

Gordon Quinn, artistic director of Kartemquin Films, is this year’s recipient of the festival’s BAADASSSSS Award, which honors lifetime career achievements in music and movies.

According to an official statement, confirmed screenings to date include “The Smart Studios Story,” a feature-length documentary about Madison, Wisconsin’s legendary recording facility; and the World Premiere of “Blackhearts,” which tracks the global reach of Norway’s infamous black metal scene.

Live performances include concerts by Taj Mahal, “goth father” Peter Murphy, the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Afrika Bambaata, Chicago AfroBeat Project, Archie & The Bunkers, Brian Case, Chicago Loud 9, Dirty Faces, Eszter Balint, Kurzman/Daisy Duo, Lifestyles, Local H, London Souls, Made To Break featuring Ken Vandermark, Monobody, Moonface, Start Making Sense and Sound of Silent Film-live scores, among others.
