When the musical “Gotta Dance” opens on Broadway next Spring, it will be known as “HalfTime.”

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (“Kinky Boots,”), with a book by Chad Beguelin and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, the musical — inspired by the real-life story and documentary of a group of hip-hop dancing seniors who perform at halftime for the New Jersey Nets — premiered in Chicago in December 2015, with a cast that included Stefanie Powers, Georgia Engel and Andre De Shields.
