It seems the old Hollywood conflict — career vs. relationship — is behind the breakup of Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green’s marriage. The couple have split after being together for 11 years.

It was Fox’s insistence on making one movie after another that ultimately was the problem. Clearly Fox’s career has been far more active lately. The 29-year-old actress and the 42-year-old former “Beverly Hills 90210” heartthrob are the parents of two children, ages 2 and 18 months. Green has a 13-year-old son from his former relationship with Vanessa Marcil.

As Us Weekly first reported, the breakup took place quietly six months ago, and things between the two stars are relatively amicable.

They were last seen together publicly on June 9, but Fox has not been wearing her wedding rings in recent months. She has spent a good bit of the summer in New York making the next “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie, while Green was back in L.A. with their children.

Representatives for both Green and Fox had no comment on the split as of Wednesday afternoon.

Fox has starred in several blockbusters, including 2007’s “Transformers” and the 2009 sequel as well as 2012’s “This Is 40” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” In addition to filming the “Turtles” sequel this year, she recently made “Zeroville” with James Franco and Will Ferrell.

The couple first got to know each other in 2004, when he guest starred on her sitcom “Hope & Faith.”
