No, it’s not “Amadeus.” It’s “Mozart, l’opéra rock” (“Mozart, the rock opera”), the English version of a French musical that uses both pop-rock compositions and Mozart’s own music. And there is talk of it being performed in Chicago (possibly at the Broadway Playhouse), in 2015, with a New York production down the road.

First staged in 2009 at the Palais des Sports de Paris, and later seen on tour in France, Belgium and Switzerland, the show features original music by Dove Attia, Jean-Pierre Pilot, Olivier Schultheis, William Rousseau, Nicolas Luciani, Rodrigue Janois, François Castello and lyrics by Vincent Baguian and Patrice Guirao, and chronicles the story of Mozart’s chaotic life and career. Its French editions have garnered mixed reviews.
