Music superstar, actress and TV talk show host Queen Latifah has been named the host of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Concert, set to take place in Oslo, Norway, on Dec. 11.

In commenting on the event, the Oscar nominated, Grammy and Golden Globe-winning entertainer said, “I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s concert and to help celebrate such amazing individuals who have each worked so hard on behalf of children’s rights to education.”

The Dec. 11 celebration will honor Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai, who were awarded the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize by the Norwegian Nobel Committee who noted their “their struggle against the oppression of children and young people, and for the right of all children to education.”

“The Nobel Prize Concert is the most popular television production created during Nobel Week in December in Oslo and Stockholm. We are very pleased that Queen Latifah has agreed to host this year’s musical tribute to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai,” said Geir Lundestad, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute.

This will be the 21st Nobel Peace Prize Concert, which is a musical celebration in honoring the year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureates. The Concert is broadcast to a global audience and reaches up to 350 million households in 100 countries.  Over the years, the Concert has featured top global artists including, Paul McCartney, Rihanna, Sting, Santana, Alicia Keys, Willie Nelson, Annie Lennox, Wyclef Jean, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Bon Jovi, A-ha, Bernhoft and Youssou N’Dour.
