Will Smith hints at getting back to his hip-hop roots

It’s been years since Will Smith was known more as a hip-hop artist than as an actor. But the entertainer has revealed he’s never stopped recording — though nothing “of the quality for public consumption.” However, that may change in the future. The Associated Press quoted Smith saying he still has the music “bug” and could eventually release some music.

Smith, who last released a solo album in 2005, was spotted with Kanye West in a recording studio in Brazil last February.

“I did a fun thing with Jimmy Fallon the other night messing with music, so you know, I got the bug,” he said. “I might see if I got one more in me.”

Smith was the MC of the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince with his childhood pal Jeffrey “DJ Jazzy Jeff” Townes. That led to him starring on the popular TV series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which then led to such hit films as “Ali,” “Independence Day,” “The Pursuit of Happyness” and the “Men in Black” flicks. His latest, the crime comedy “Focus,” will be in theaters Feb. 27.
