A 12-year-old girl was struck by a pickup truck Friday afternoon in north suburban Gages Lake.

The girl was walking south at 2:43 p.m. across Gages Lake Road at Almond Road when she was struck by the front end of a pick-up truck, according to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver had a green light and was traveling eastbound on Gages Lake Road and was unable to avoid striking the girl, police said.

The girl was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries, and was later flown to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, police said.

Police are still investigating.
