A 14-year-old was approached by a stranger, who made inappropriate comments in a church parking lot Wednesday morning in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

The teen was walking to school through the parking lot of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church at 700 S. Meier Rd. about 7:05 a.m. when a male in a dark Toyota Sienna minivan parked in the lot and approached, according to a community alert from Mount Prospect police.

The man spoke to the teen in Korean and initially asked for directions, but the conversation then turned inappropriate about the clothes the teen was wearing, police said.

The teen ran away to Holmes Junior High School and reported the incident, police said. The van left the church parking lot and headed east on Lonnquist Boulevard.

The suspect was described as an Asian man in his mid-20s with medium build and round face, wearing a dark baseball-style cap and black shirt, police said.

Anyone with information should call 911.
