A 15-year-old boy was shot Wednesday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened at 11:27 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth, according to Chicago Police.

The boy was shot in the foot and was taken in fair condition to University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

He told investigators an older man walked up to the porch and shot him before running away, but investigators believe the shooting was self-inflicted.
