A teenage boy was shot late Tuesday in the North Center neighborhood on the North Side.

The 17-year-old was walking in the 2300 block of West Cullom at 11:53 p.m. when someone approached him, pulled out a gun and started shooting, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the side and taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the boy is a documented gang member.
