A 17-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

He was in a passenger in a vehicle in the 2100 block of South California about 2:15 p.m. when someone standing outside the vehicle fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

The teen was shot in the back and took himself to Saint Anthony Hospital, where he was in serious condition, police said. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital.
