A man was shot Wednesday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 18-year-old was standing on the sidewalk about 9:20 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Cortez when someone wielding a gun walked up to him, according to Chicago Police. A struggle between them ensued, during which the gun went off and struck the man in the abdomen.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
