24-year-old Far South Side man fatally shot in Calumet City

A 24-year-old Far South Side man was shot to death Wednesday morning in south suburban Calumet City.

Officers responded to the area near Sibley and Burnham at 8:20 a.m. and found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound, according to Calumet City police.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 9:25 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police initially said the victim was a resident of East Chicago, Indiana, but on Friday, the medical examiner’s office identified him as Jeremy J. Davis of the 10500 block of South State Street.

An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
