A 25-year-old west suburban man was fatally shot in the head Tuesday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Angelo Terrell was standing outside at 3:38 p.m. in the 300 block of South Kilbourn when another male walked up, pulled out a handgun and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The shooter was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Terrell, a Bellwood resident, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than 30 minutes later at 4 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

No one was in custody early Wednesday as Area North detectives conduct a homicide investigation.
