A 59-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting Monday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

He was in the 11400 block of South Stewart about 2:40 p.m. when a vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots, police said.

He was shot in the back and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was initially listed in critical condition, police said. His condition had stabilized as of Tuesday morning.

Police initially reported that the victim had died, but later said that report was erroneous.
