A 60-year-old man died Saturday, one week after he was struck by a car in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Roy Patton was struck by a 2016 Honda Civic heading east in the 4500 block of West Cermak Road at 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 20, according to Chiago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Patton, of the 4200 block of West 21st Place, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 2:42 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. An autopsy Tuesday found he died of complications of injuries from a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian, and his death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the Civic, a 21-year-old woman, was cited for failure to take due care to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway, police said.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is looking into the crash.
