Here’s a sign that beer may be overtaking bacon as the food flavoring: Jelly Belly Candy Co. has unveiled Draft, a beer-flavored jelly bean.

The company says beer has been a highly requested flavor for decades. “The question wasn’t how; it was what. Ale or Lager? Stout? Lambic? Pilsner? In the end, the company opted to pay homage to its German ancestry with a Hefeweizen-inspired ale flavor,” the company writes on its website.

Beer connoisseurs will find the flavor profile to be clean with notes of wheat and a touch of sweetness. The aroma is mildly bready. While Draft Beer packs a flavor punch, it is alcohol free.

Draft Beer Jelly Belly isn’t the only beer-flavored candy. Beercandy Inc. — which claims to be “the first candy for beer lovers” — makes chocolate-covered caramels using real craft beer. And Seattle Magazine found places using beer in cheese, cookies and ice cream.
