Some of the world’s best films head to Chicago for the Chicago International Film Festival, which started Thursday. Two of the favorites, “Nebraska” by Oscar-winning director Alexander Payne and “August: Osage County,” are both showing on Oct. 16.

While everyone knows “MMMBop,” not everyone knows Hanson is back with a new CD release “Anthem” and a pair of shows at the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn, Oct. 13-14. The brothers have grown up and now have a decidedly different sound. Tickets start at $33.

“Once” received rave reviews from Theater Critic Hedy Weiss and proves that Broadway magic can thrive in Chicago. The show runs through Oct. 27 at the Oriental Theatre, 27 W. Randolph.
