“The answers were stunning,” Steve Harvey says, when the family from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” taped an episode of “Family Feud.”
He’s used to bizarre offerings from the families playing his hit game show, but nothing could have prepared him for this. Honey Boo Boo, Mama June and the rest of the sketti-slurping clan from McIntyre, Ga., face off for charity against another set of TLC reality stars, the bakers from “Cake Boss.”
“They give you honest answers from their life, but it’s stuff you can’t imagine,” the host says. “You can’t even think along these lines.”
As usual, the contestants guess the answers given by people surveyed about a particular topic, but on this show the questions seem tailored to the players’ fields of expertise. That means wedding cakes for Buddy Valastro and his baking bunch. For Chubbs, Chickadee and the like, the emphasis is on their apparent specialty: bodily functions.
“Name something your body does that people think is funny,” Harvey queries — with all-too-obvious results.
But the answer that most horrified the prim and proper host came when he asked what children need to be told not to pick at. Prompted by her mama, the 8-year-old child pageant veteran piped up, “Toe jam!”
Harvey now laments, “Who the hell has to ask their children not to pick at toe jam? When she said it, it just froze me.”
Asked by Mama June if he ever had that parenting issue, Harvey gave an emphatic no, “because me and my wife have a little rule at the house that requires everyone to bathe at least once a day. So that prohibits the buildup of toe jam.”
See more answers from the lives of the “Honey Boo Boo” clan — concerning scabs, butt cracks and other wonders — when the episode airs at 5 p.m. Monday on WPWR-Channel 50.
