ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Blackhawks finally made their move for a defenseman.
The Hawks acquired defenseman Chris Campoli and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2011 from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Ryan Potulny and a conditional second-round selection in 2011.
Campoli has three goals, 14 assists and a minus-3 rating in 58 games this season for the Senators.
Hawks general manager Stan Bowman has said multiple times that he was looking to add depth on defense. A left leg injury to Jordan Hendry Sunday also made it essential that Bowman acquire a blue-liner.
A penalty-killing defenseman was Bowman’s top priority. Campoli didn’t lead the Senators in that sense, but he did average 1:41 per game on the penalty kill. He also had 73 hits and 70 blocks this season for Ottawa.
