SHARE 71-year-old man shot to death in Back of the Yards

A 71-year-old man was fatally shot when he opened the door of his Back of the Yards neighborhood home Sunday morning on the South Side.

Fredell Bryant answered the door about 6 a.m. in the 5200 block of South Green and was shot twice in the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Bryant was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:51 a.m., authorities said.

About half an hour earlier in the same neighborhood, another man was killed in a separate shooting.
