Seven people, including three children, were injured in a crash Sunday afternoon on the Dan Ryan Expressway near the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

An SUV crashed at 2:25 p.m. on I-94 near West 88th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Three children and four adults from two vehicles were taken to hospitals in serious-to-critical condition, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Jeff Lyle said. Police initially said that six people in the SUV were injured.

The children were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. Two adults were taken to Stroger Hospital and two were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Lyle said. Their exact ages and genders were not immediately available.

The far right lane on I-94 and the ramp from 87th to I-94 northbound were temporarily closed, police said.

Additional details were not immediately available.
